when Chopard Committed to building on its brand’s achievements, it doesn’t stop at the bare minimum. In 2016, the brand released its first repeating wristwatch, the Full Strike, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its manufacture. The celebration became even more festive when Full Strike won the Best Show Award at the 2017 Grand Prix de Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). The watch’s success marked the beginning of a new chapter in Chopard’s history.
The newest addition to Chopard’s growing catalog LUC Full Strike Tourbillon. The new release is an ethical pink gold edition limited to just 20 pieces. The model stands out by combining a minute repeater with a tourbillon, without using a special material.
Chopard chose sapphires to form both the bridge on the tourbillon as well as the gongs in this piece. The result is a surprisingly clear and loud sound as the repeat mechanism is activated. For this reason, the gold case is more special, because gold does not transmit sound, for example, titanium or stainless steel.
Designing the new LUC Full Strike tourbillon is a feat for Chopard, especially since many watch connoisseurs still prefer to keep their repeat watches in precious metal. Sapphire monoblock gongs, which can be very challenging to craft, solve this problem elegantly and innovatively.
Powering the hands is the caliber LUC 08.02-L, a well-loved movement from Chopard. It beats at 4Hz and offers a power reserve of 50 hours. The mechanism has refined finishing, earning it the prestigious Poin de Genève or Geneva Seal quality hallmark.
The exterior of the watch is as attractive as its mechanics, with a gray dial that complements the warm-toned pink gold. Cutouts at 10 and 6 o’clock draw the viewer in with a view of the hammers of the tourbillon and minute repeater. The two extra hands represent the power reserve of both the movement and the striking mechanism. The finishing touch is the gray alligator strap, matching the color of the dial and further adding to the good look that is a stunning example of excellence.
The new Chopard LUC Full Strike Tourbillon is limited to 20 pieces and will be available at select retailers with pricing available upon request.
