Members of the aBlogtoWatch team and a lucky aBlogtoWatch audience member recently explored the Grand Teton Mountains around Jackson Hole, Wyoming as part of an amazing giveaway experience. Back in December 2021, our annual experience prize with Swiss-made NORQAIN watches is this amazing tour opportunity. The resulting trip took place in August 2022 with aBlogtoWatch audience member Kyle enjoying Wyoming’s hospitality and scenery with aBlogtoWatch and Norcaine.
While staying in the beautiful and historic town of Jackson, Wyoming, one can see some of America’s most impressive natural wonders. The city is located south of the famous Yellowstone National Park and adjacent to the Grand Teton mountain range. This highland actually looks like parts of Switzerland. In Jackson, you’ll feel like you’re next door to Swiss watchmaking country. Jackson is also home to high-end watch retailer ODEN, which proudly carries Narkine timepieces as an authorized dealer.
By wearing NORQAIN Neverest, Adventure and Independence timepieces in the experience, aBlogtoWatch and NORQAIN team members have enjoyed some of the world’s most iconic natural sites and outdoor activities. Activities the group participated in included hiking over 10,000 feet, whitewater rafting on the Snake River, traditional horseback riding, and fly fishing at dusk. Known as a prime summer and winter destination, Jackson Hole has strong activity options in both major travel seasons. We highly recommend a visit if you haven’t.
NORQAIN watches sell well in the popular tourist destination, and ODEN even offers a limited-edition version with an image of the Grand Tetons on the caseback. It certainly specializes in sports-themed watches, NORQAIN has plenty of options suitable for all types of outdoor trekking and adventures.
aBlogtoWatch audience member Kyle B., a prize winner, shared his own thoughts about the experience: When I saw that aBlogtowatch was partnering with Norkine for Adventure Weekend, I knew I had to enter. On the first day of the adventure weekend, we got down to business. Over breakfast, I introduced myself to everyone and got my first real look at NORQAIN’s Adventure Sport 42mm with a black dial and bezel on a black rubber strap. I have seen pictures of this watch, but when I experienced it in person, I realized that the pictures did not do it justice. Everything about the watch just popped, especially how the indicators lit up at different angles. The NORQAIN pattern on the dial is well defined and has a lot of depth that I didn’t notice in pictures. It’s a well made watch and I even found myself wearing it for our whitewater rafting trip and the rest of the day.
The rafting trip is an eight-mile ride through multiple rapids on the Snake River. Having never done whitewater rafting before, the anticipation was heightened. This is what the watch was made for, what is NORQAIN. There were some serious moments, holding on for dear life as we plowed through the rapids and hearing the guide tell everyone to take a break from rowing as the laughter broke out – who got wet the most? After the rafting trip, there was a short respite and then it was off to see the entire NORQAIN collection. This collection is sure to have something for everyone — from the syringe-style hands found in the Freedom collection to the different colors in the GMTs. I also learned a few things that I hadn’t noticed before. For example, the NORQAIN plate on the NEVEREST models is thinner than that on the ADVENTURE models. I really enjoyed looking at the collection. It was a nice end to the day.
After wearing the Black Adventure Sport on day one, the NEVEREST Glacier 40mm on flex fabric accompanies me on day two: hiking, horseback riding and fly fishing in the Tetons. The next morning we got up bright and early and headed up the mountain on the tram to enjoy some waffles and hiking. The waffles are really good and the hiking is challenging but well worth the view. An ever-present glacier seemed right at home in the rugged mountain scenery. Given the change in elevation and how much hiking we did, the flex strap was surprisingly comfortable. I wasn’t too sure about the strap type when I first saw it — was it like wearing a rubber band? To my surprise, the way it floats on the wrist is great. I felt like I wasn’t wearing anything at all. Getting down was a bit tricky but very comfortable.
After hiking, it’s on to horseback riding and fly fishing. Horseback riding was another first for me and I was excited to try it. I was a big guy, so they put me on a draft horse called Bud Heavy. There was an instant connection, and even though he was at his own pace, he got me safely where we were going. Everglacier looked at home on horseback, in the river and in the mountains with a fly rod. The quality and visual appeal make each watch wearable on a raft in the middle of the rapids, and even a nice dinner with friends at the end of the day. NORQAIN’s watches can be worn on all occasions, outdoors and indoors.
The weekend went by so fast. Although we met everyone just two days ago, it felt like we all knew each other for a long time. I’ve always loved what NORQAIN is doing, but after this weekend, I understand the brand better. The team’s passion for what they do is evident from the moment I meet them. After spending the weekend getting to know the people behind the brand and having some real-life experience with the watches, I can say that when it comes time to step into this level of watches, I’ll definitely get a Norkine.
The aBlogtoWatch team would like to once again thank the generous team at Narkine for creating an amazing and memorable wristwatch adventure experience and the large audience for participating in other giveaway opportunities. You can know more about NORQAIN watches Brand’s website.
