G-Shocks essentially originated as a man (Kikuo Ibe) constant attempts to create something as close to an indestructible clock as possible. That sturdiness is certainly a big part of the G-Shock’s appeal, but that doesn’t necessarily make it a hot favorite for people who are into gadgets. All the parts that make such groups irresistible are fun and admirable in their own sweet ways; Comparing them with products from Garmin And Soonto Stupid at best.
You can check out one of our previous posts which has a comparison between the two (Garmin and G-Shock); This will only help you decide what you need. In the next post, we will tell you about G-Shock and Suunto; But for now, we’ll just stick to the G-Shock.
The Casio G-Shock is one of those unassuming, straightforward watches that boldly proclaims its purpose. You will not be fooled into believing them to be something they are not. They come with a 10-year battery life (more, if not driven Tough solar technology) But why are we painting the lily?
I don’t normally write a segment like this, but after the celebrities also went on a G-Shock spree, I knew I had to write one to applaud and applaud – after the ride, G-Shock was great to see. Now climbing higher peaks high level steps.
It surprised me (and it surprised a lot of people) that Mr. William Gates – rocking the tech-daddy look of the late ’90s – displayed G-Shocks as his least favorite. Diver – The Casio Duro Marlin! And how much do they cost? No more than he had tipped the waiter during his last visit to one of the eateries Tribeca Or SOHO. He certainly seems to believe the words – “Go to Casio and you can definitely beat it without worrying!” But the subconscious is a deeper thing.
The casio on his wrist reveals his true nature. He could easily go for one Langea Rolex or a Cartier But what he chose instead was stable, dependable and unassuming – compare it to the bling on a rapper’s wrist; Nothing to show. Certainly, a man known for his philanthropic work, when needed to support or help a worthy cause – selling that Rolex/Lange/Cartier is more than a fair possibility.
Many of you will say that Mr. Gates is not a watch enthusiast but hey! Shouldn’t an enthusiast always share the Swiss philosophy-/force her? I guess it’s about being objective; If a Casio is floating his yacht for casual meetings, so be it! It is a wrong idea that as an enthusiast you must always commit to something inevitably expensive; Instead, it should be a hot take – strong, stubborn and free of snobbery. Mr. Gates must have his ready-to-wear pieces at royal invitations; He doesn’t need to make fun of it every time. Opinions may vary and that is welcome; Without opposing viewpoints, things can become bland very quickly. Some snobbery proves that man is – after all – human and not a programmed machine; He/she is provided with information that he/she must follow. On bad days, even Gonzo can plead guilty – because Gonzo isn’t a different species and is human (at least physically) with his own faults and preferences. But mostly, he’s not a snob at all!
The reality is – watches are a niche hobby that, as enthusiasts, may be less interesting (or welcoming) with a holier-than-thou attitude while dismissing what others consider cool; That increases tenfold when it comes to luxury products, especially quartz, with price scares.
Is quartz a luxury? That’s yes; Who says it isn’t? Perhaps snobs; But that doesn’t tarnish the glory of the Grand Seiko or the FP Journe Elegante! Just because there’s a battery and seconds hand ticks (there are also sweeper hands like the Invicta Pro Diver or Invicta Angel; although they’re a minority and more respected), that doesn’t mean it’s not a formidable, analog impression. Expert and critical timing. Get it straight! Low maintenance and high style is always in vogue!
