Q1. Dear Gonzo, I am here again asking for recommendations. Still a newbie, I seek advice and knowledge in this vast world of horology; You are one of the few people who have helped me tremendously in developing my passion for watches that I have developed over the past two years.
Recently, the graces of the Lord have showered abundantly, giving me an excuse to buy a surprise luxury gift this Christmas and a watch for that matter. Her previous blingy with a Swiss-like name has recently lost its appeal.
I’m limited by my budget, but a Rolex or Chopard isn’t what I’m looking for right now. If diamonds had still been her best friend, my job would have been easy and I wouldn’t have bothered you like I am now (laughs). I choose Seiko Classic Women’s And call it a day! Alternatively, I choose for her Orient Sun and Moon; Or maybe, the Citizen Silhouette Eco-Drive.
The only suggestion I received was – a watch that she can wear well to weddings and going to the mall with her friends. She is prominent in the media and wears a Casio Baby-G otherwise work.
A. So, you really want to gift your wife a nice watch! I understand the reason behind your low trust in gut instincts regarding this matter; Going against the norm isn’t always pleasant and it often backfires, bringing strong men to their knees and as a principle of brotherhood, I must share your burdens. You are not alone. But, my dear sir, some are unlearned; Glad you’re out of their league.
Some of the life lessons learned the hard way over many years, at least in matters of passion – don’t try to impose. You can suggest maximum to your lady love. However, it is a sad character trait of men – with predictable consequences – to repeatedly fall in love with timepieces and, in increasingly tedious fashion, woo their respective women against their preferred ways of perceiving time. Glad you got over that hurdle
A situation where you dictate the whole sequence will equally annoy (ie frustrate) her; Trying to sway her to your liking will only lead to more disappointment. She hesitates – with good temper, I might add – to enter a world you find so charming.
Below regarding watches for women Rolex Or Chopard Price ranges, the easy answer might be Morellato. She doesn’t have many reasons to dislike Ninfa; Gaia or Incontro. However, only for weddings, drops or rose gold nymph you need to catch her attention. Morellato also creates some stunning metal jewelry; Pair one with a watch to reinforce your success.
Alternatively, Trussardi – Morellato’s sister brand – also has something to offer in this regard. Check T-Complicity or T-Lite with Crest; Both are going to earn you some extra credits which will add to your credibility as a competent decision maker in future days.
Q2. Hello Gonzo! This may come as a bit of a surprise since your followers and those who write to you are men but you
Entertaining and intelligent reads are no longer the monopoly of men, are they? I thank you for all those columns; You have expanded my horological knowledge quite a bit but I am afraid, I have not yet gathered enough to suit the tastes of two gentlemen – one still in his seventies very active with his prized Harley and the other nearing his seventies. And a couch potato from the last 20-odd years. One is my father and the other, my father-in-law, to whom, this Christmas, I would like to gift each a watch. My mother-in-law is Russian and as Russia goes, a watch is the best way to wish someone a long and prosperous life, but my father is a stiff-upper-lipped gentleman with a penchant for the finer things in life. Although watches were never his fancy items, it was hard to please As crockery in bone china and fine wine.
A. Nice to hear from you madam; To quote Autolycus – “It’s nice to have female company for a change.” I remember meeting Russians on the job, but not with matters of horological science, but with caviar breakfasts, frozen streams, and all manner of decadent pleasures, which I still recall with unadulterated joy. Glad to hear you’re asking for my recommendations to avoid being called nevezhestvennyy.
For the gentleman with a taste for fine crockery, look no further than the Seiko Presage Arita Porcelain Automatic, while for septuagenarian youth, there’s nothing better than the Garmin Instinct Solar Tactical Edition Graphite Camo. However, if you want options, also check out the new range of Seiko Presages and Casio G-Shocks. Needless to say which one is for whom.
Keep falling Give your answers below. Tell us which of the above watches you like to use the most and why.
