Hot lens The Schaffhausen-based new construction and operational support from its sister company H. Moser & Cie is undergoing an era of change. New leadership at the young brand has also introduced a fresh brand concept and product strategy, leading the release of one new Linear series 1. Following the brand’s history with features such as a jumping hour disc, half-trailing hour chain and jumping hour rotating on a sphere, the latest release now offers a linear retrograde jumping hour.
The exterior of the watch is a satin-finished and polished steel case with dimensions of 43.0 x 50.8 x 11.9 mm. The case design is Hautlence’s signature “TV-shaped case”, a shape reminiscent of a rectangle with angled corners. Engraved sapphire crystal caseback with hotlens” revealing the inner mechanics of the watch. The watch will be released in a limited run of 28 pieces and the exhibition caseback will reveal the number of each specific piece out of 28 engraved on the movement.
The base of the dial is skeletonized, rhodium-plated brass with a vertical satin finish. To the left of the dial is a sapphire, vertical hour marker with printed white indexes. The intermediate dial indicating the minutes is slightly off-center to the right of the center of the dial and also has printed white indices. The main dial is partially open to see the parts in the movement. A component visible through the opening is the minute cam. It is integrated with the minute hand, which rotates once an hour and lifts the minute sector as the hour progresses. After 60 minutes, the minute sector returns, driving the hour star containing the hour cam.
Powering the watch is caliber D50, an automatic mechanism capable of a 72-hour power reserve. The movement is made up of 239 components and includes both a linear retrograde jumping hour and a 1-minute flying tourbillon, both visible through the dial.
The new Hautlence Linear Series 1 is limited to 28 pieces, priced at CHF 59,000, or approximately $61,300 USD at the time of writing.
