When first introduced, the Bell & Ross BR 05 collection gave us a more toned-down, urban-oriented take on the Parisian brand’s famous circle-in-a-square design. And gradually the collection expanded from the simple yet elegant three-hand watch to chronograph, GMT and skeleton variations in a range of colors and materials. Returning to the most restrained member of the family, the time and date model, Bell & Ross now brings some warmth to the upcoming fall and winter months with the Bell & Ross BR 05 Copper Brown.
The BR 05 Copper Brown’s stainless steel case features the familiar soft-round square-ish profile of the entire BR 05 lineup. The bezel has a brushed finish on top, surrounded by a wide polished bevel and functional screws in each corner. Crown guards screw into place and protect the screw-down crown from unwanted knocks and bumps. Sapphire crystals cover both sides of the watch and are given an anti-reflective coating. With a water-resistance rating of 100 meters, it’s more than capable of withstanding a splash in the pool if you so desire.
The dial is what sets the BR 05 Copper Brown apart from its siblings. Now finished in a coppery-brown tone, obviously, it offers a warm, luxurious appeal. This is the fourth color to appear on the three-armed BR 05, after silver, black and blue. Applied indices and numerals with luminous inserts spread around the dial. The central hour and minute hands feature a Super-LumiNova fille center spine, with a needle-like seconds hand completing the set. The date window at 3 o’clock has a metal frame to stand out a bit more.
The BR-CAL.321 automatic movement, based on the tried and tested Sellita SW 300-1, is visible through the sapphire crystal on the back. Driven by a fully skeletonized rotor like other BR 05 models using this movement, it runs at 28,800vph and offers a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement allows the date to be quickly set via the crown and has a stop-seconds function when the crown is pulled out.
The new Bell & Ross BR 05 Copper Brown is worn on a textured brown rubber strap or a brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet, both with a folding clasp to keep it secure on your wrist. Both variations are retail EUR 4,400 (rubber) and EUR 4,900 (bracelet) respectively.
