As the most French of French brands, it is no surprise that Yema has a long and strong relationship with many French military forces. For example, the brand recently announced its partnership with the Marine Nationale (French Navy), resulting in this collection, as well as this vintage model for the Air and Space Forces’ search and rescue team. As it should remain a military-issued watch intended solely to celebrate the submarine team’s 50th anniversary, the story of the new models that just arrived today is a little different. But people decided differently and here are two new and different Yema Navygraf FSM watches in steel or bronze.
Behind these two new models, known as Navigraph FSM, is a collaboration with the Strategic Oceanic Force (for FOST). Strategic Marine Corps), commands a squadron of nuclear attack submarines of the French Submarine Forces. Established in 1972 when the first French ballistic missile submarine (SLBM) was named The Redoubtable began its patrol, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. To highlight this milestone, the squadron asked French brand Yema to create dedicated watches to honor its members. In response, Yema produced two special edition models limited to 50 timepieces, exclusively for Marine National personnel. The public saw them on the brand’s Instagram account and… asked for it too.
Both watches are based on the Navygraf, a more modern take on the dive watch, perhaps a little less iconic than the all-time favorite Superman, but a more focused, more streamlined and ultimately, perhaps more compatible watch action. Compact and not equipped with the signature bezel-lock system, this is a straightforward watch designed to get the job done. And the commission for Marine National’s FOST was not one, but two models, one bronze and one steel. And it’s not just about different case material, they’re very different overall.
First in the line is the Yema Navigraph FSM bronze rather curved and warm take. As its name suggests, the 38.5mm case is made entirely (except for the caseback) of bronze, with its 60-minute scale engraved directly into the metal. Classic, retro elements can be found all around, such as pointy crown guards or polished bevels on the side of the lugs. It’s a serious dive watch with 300-meter water-resistance, and it’s attractive with a thick, high-domed sapphire crystal.
Unique to this edition is the bronze Navigraph FSM dial, with its glossy black surface and hands and markers treated in colors reminiscent of the case. The markers, with their elongated, pointed design, and hands are generously coated in Super-LumiNova. Inside the case is the brand’s in-house automatic caliber YEMA2000, a French alternative to the likes of ETA and Sellita, with a 42h power reserve, 4Hz frequency and regulated by -/+ 10 seconds/day. This model is a no-date version.
The Yema Navygraf FSM Bronze Marine National Parachute is offered on an elastic strap, a vintage leather strap or a Tropic-like rubber strap. It has a price EUR 1,190 And not limited to, shipping of the first batch of 400 watches will end in October 2022. The next batch will be available in spring 2023.

FOST’s other model, the Yema Navygraf FSM Steel, has a different design and is more modern and technical than its bronze counterpart. The stainless steel case is brushed without polished bevels and has a slightly larger diameter of 39 mm. The more technical design continues with the bezel, which features a flat black sapphire crystal insert highlighted in a luminous material with a 60-minute scale. The top of the watch is flat, with a 2.5mm sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown and caseback guaranteeing 300-meter water-resistance.
The dial of this Navygraf FSM steel follows the same direction with a matte black surface and a completely different shape of the markers, which are shorter, bolder and more contrasting. Still no date watch, it also has some colorful accents like the red seconds hand. At the request of Marine National Military personnel, all of the Navigraph FSM’s inscriptions were darkened to blend in almost completely with the dial. Inside is the French-made automatic caliber YEMA2000.
This steel version of the Yema Navygraf FSM is offered on a rubber strap, on a leather strap with patriotic red-white-blue stitching, or on a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp and diving extension. There are prices EUR 790 On the strap and EUR 849 On the bracelet.
