Smartwatches are no longer a novelty, and they’ve arguably outgrown the narrow trendy window that some predicted would be their expiration date. With leading watch brands like Mont Blanc Becoming a key player in the luxury smartwatch category and the rise of innovation in wristwatch technology, it seems the smartwatch is truly here to stay. Now, nearly five years after launching its first smartwatch, Montblanc has released its newest addition to the catalog. Summit 3Launched in the summer, the timepiece joins its namesake Summit collection.
The Summit 3 is upping the ante on personalization compared to the previous edition, notably opting for an AMOLED screen display that changes based on user preference. Available options pay homage to the analog history of the Montblanc brand, from depictions of dials from the Geosphere, Bohème and 1858 collections. The swappability of the screen provides a more versatile look, working to ensure that the smartwatch doesn’t compromise style for functionality or opposition.
Slightly smaller than the Summit 1 and 2 models, the watch measures just under 42mm in diameter. The case is made of titanium and offers a steel caseback engraved with heart rate sensor and charging pins. The case shape with its tapered lugs surrounding the crown and two pushers is reminiscent of traditional Montblanc mechanical chronograph design.
The Summit 3 runs on the new Wear OS by Google 3.0 system. The system offers all the features from a smartwatch, including everyday functions like GPS and contactless payment, to health-inspired functions like a step counter, heart rate monitor, and a whole suite of health and fitness tracking capabilities. The system offers 8 GB of storage and has better battery life than previous Summit models.
The Montblanc Summit 3 is available to retail for $1,290 through the brand’s online store and through authorized shops.
