Since some time, Watch time New York 2022 returns to Midtown Manhattan’s Gotham Hall to help bring the Watch world together for one of the biggest events of the fall. The three-day show will take place from October 21-23, with each day dedicated to showcasing the many wonderful timepieces of the more than 30 participating brands and encouraging great conversations between enthusiasts and watchmakers.
Participating brands include: Mont BlancThe maker is set to showcase its new 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen Limited Edition. True to its name, the watch completely excludes oxygen from the spaces in the movement, the second caliber introduced by Montblanc to do so. The oxygen-free watch is a tribute to mountaineer Simon Messner, who used as little equipment as possible in his performances and never used supplemental oxygen, even during his most challenging climbs. This past August, Messner left France with the 1858 Geosphere 0 oxygen on his wrist to begin the ascent of Mont Blanc, soon after testing its zero-oxygen capabilities by pushing the timepiece through some of the harshest conditions on Earth.
On the wrist, the watch is 42mm bronze, retaining the familiar silhouette seen on previous Geospheres, with slim curved lugs and the use of both a polished and satin finish. In keeping with previous Geosphere watches, a bi-directional bronze bezel topped with a black ceramic insert displays each of the cardinal directions. Then turning the model over reveals a case back produced from bronze-plated titanium, a solid surface depicting a three-dimensional laser engraving of the Mont Blanc.
Underneath the sapphire crystal, a blue glacial pattern with blue, black and bronze accents is at work. Like other models in the Geosphere collection, the dial features two three-dimensional globes that rotate counterclockwise at 12 and 6 o’clock, one representing the Northern Hemisphere and the other the Southern. In addition to acting as a visual signature to the series, the two globes also feature day and night indications that help the watch function as an effective worldtimer complete with day and night indications. In addition to its travel functionality, the LE also displays the running hours and minutes, as well as a date window at 3 o’clock and a dedicated second time zone sub-dial at the 9 o’clock position.
Powering the exceptional watch is the caliber MB 29.25, a manufacturing movement specially adjusted to keep oxygen away from its mechanical components. The automatic caliber has an approximately 42-hour power reserve.
Montblanc Geosphere 0 Oxygen Limited Edition A limited production of 1,786 pieces, the number refers to the date of the first ascent of Mont Blanc on August 8, 1786. Available now, the new watch can be purchased directly from the brand and through authorized shops.
