Fast and long awaited Watch Time New York 2022 This year it returns to Gotham Hall in midtown Manhattan from October 21-23. Over the course of the weekend, more than 30 participating watch brands will showcase their most sought-after releases from the past year. The three days of the event will help showcase a variety of timepieces and create unmissable conversations between guests and industry professionals.
Perrelet is returning to the event to showcase its new release Turbine Rainbow. The Swiss manufacture is known for creating animated dials, with its entire Turbine collection featuring rotating blades as a dial backdrop. The new Turbine Rainbow is a follow-up to previous models from the collection with innovative use of materials and improved efficiencies.
The watch features a 44mm case made primarily of polycarbonate and carbon fiber, Perrelet’s first experiment with carbon fiber in its designs. Carbon fiber is a lightweight material that is particularly resistant to chemical agents and temperature changes, making it a versatile and durable choice for watchmaking. The case is finished with a steel bezel and matte black PVD-coated caseback. It also features the brand’s signature fluted case band.
The main propeller dial is black, while the subdial, a hallmark of the Turbine collection, is adorned with countless colored dots against a black background. As the watch moves with the movement of the wrist, the 12-blade black aluminum propeller spins and the rainbow colors of the subdial are revealed. The outer ring of the dial has 12 o’clock markers in ascending rainbow order from red at 12 o’clock, followed by orange at 2 o’clock, until the hands reach violet at 10 o’clock.
Turbine Rainbow is powered by the in-house caliber P-331-MH, an automatic movement that offers a 42-hour power reserve. The intricacies of the movement are revealed through the exhibition caseback on the reverse of the watch.
The Perelet Turbine Rainbow is a limited edition of 50 pieces, each retailing for $4,950.
