The Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon is protected by a 41mm lucent steel case and a bezel adorned with eight screws set at a tangent. The center case uses a vertical satin-brushed finish with polished bevels that meet the compass rose steel crown. Closing the case on both sides is a glare-proof sapphire crystal, keeping both the dial and mechanics on display. Extending from the case is a tapering integrated bracelet made from satin-brushed steel links.
The main dial features an “Aletsch Blue” color, achieved through galvanic treatment and a stamped pattern radiating from the tourbillon at 6 o’clock. The white gold hour markers and numerals are applied and treated with Super Luminova. The flying tourbillon design loosens the upper bridge, creating the illusion of no attachment. The design takes its name from inspiration from the mountain eagles of the Swiss Alps, channeling its majestic nature into the intricacies of Chopard’s finishing.
Internally, the LUC 96.24-L mechanism that powers the watch comes from a development by Chopard Manufacture. At just 3.3mm thick, the movement powers the flying tourbillon to rotate once per minute. Using Chopard’s twin technology with two stacked barrels, the watch has a power reserve of 65 hours. The Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon is the first complication marked by the prestigious Poincon de Genève quality hallmark to join the Alpine Eagle collection.
